Temperaments & Degrees of Attar Oils

Hippocrates founded the concept of humors, further developed by Galen and 00’s of years later enhanced by Avicenna. Avicenna using these methods helped to classify each plant/herb to their temperaments and degrees accordingly.

Thus each attars, has their own temperament and degree category. Aside from using an attar oil as a perfume, attar oils can be used for aromatherapy, unani and herbal formularies, as well as correction of spiritual imbalances and others

Please do NOT ingest the oils, they are meant to be applied on the skin only

For example, lets look at

  • Juice – Cold & Dry in the 1st Degree
  • Pitch – Cold & Wet in the 1st Degree
  • Attar – Hot & Dry in the 1st Degree

To bring out the attar’s locked latent abilities requires study and techniques. Now that is taking the attars beyond perfumery. Although we will not be discussing about such topics, it is worth to note that not all attars are created equal. To qualify for such a feat it requires certain conditions to be met. Thus that explains why our attars are not the kind you can compare prices against.

I made this chart based on my understanding of certain texts and other knowledge.
